Facebook Breached Once Again

Facebook has been breached again, and this time it’s affecting 50 million users of the site. This problem came from the “View As” feature, which allows users to view what their account pages looks like to other people.

“This underscores there are just constant attacks from people who are trying to take over accounts and steal information from our community. This is going to be an ongoing effort,” said Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Zuckerberg is currently trying to figure out how to make Facebook a more secure place for its users and keep its good reputation.

The attackers found a way to generate access tokens which allowed them into users’ accounts to do whatever they wanted. This had been going on for a while and was only discovered in September of this year.

Essentially, Facebook is in a tight situation right now. They are just recovering from their scandal a few months ago where they were found to be giving away their users’ information to Cambridge Analytica, a UK based digital consultancy and now have this problem on their hands.

If Facebook is unable to fix this or future problems, they could face major repercussions such as a steep decline in users of the site.
