*Albany, NY* – The Albany Academy Cadets soccer team faced a tough challenge against Voorheesville, resulting in a narrow 2-3 loss. Despite the setback, the team showed resilience and determination throughout the match. We had the opportunity to sit down with Captain James to gain insights into the game and the team’s future plans.

James began by recounting the start of the game, “We actually came out pretty strong in the first 20 minutes. We had a really nice goal to kick things off, with Amos Stack scoring from almost half-field. It was a beautiful upper 90 bar down goal. But Voorheesville wasn’t backing down, and they quickly equalized.”

Reflecting on the team’s preparation for the match, James explained, “We focused on the basics, like ensuring everyone got enough sleep and stayed hydrated. We arrived early, took our warm-up seriously, and got ready to give it our all.”

When asked about strategies to avoid a similar outcome in future matches, James shared, “Next time we play them, which happens to be our homecoming game (September 29th 4:30pm), we’ll have a plan to contain their most dangerous player, Eli Kirgan. I’ll stay up on him, while my teammate will provide depth behind me. This way, we can prevent them from breaking through.”

Regarding a message for his teammates and fans, James expressed, “We played a tough game, and it was a really good contest. We had tremendous support from our fans, which was fantastic. I think we gave it our all, and there’s not much more we could have done except for maybe converting a few more chances.”

Lastly, when discussing his role as co-captain, James emphasized communication, saying, “As a captain, I prioritize clear and constant communication, both on and off the field. It’s crucial for setting the team’s morale, ensuring everyone knows their positions, and feeling confident and welcomed. We’ll keep working on that.”

In conclusion, despite the challenging loss, the Albany Academy Cadets remain focused and determined. co-captain James and the team are committed to learning from this experience and improving their performance in future matches. We wish them the best of luck in their upcoming games.
