Set in the nuclear 1950’s, Zombie Prom is a tale of love, nuclear explosions, and zombies. It follows a high school senior named Toffee and her bad-boy boyfriend Jonny, who spells his name without the customary “h.” When Toffee’s parents forbid her from seeing Jonny, he responds by hurtling himself into the Francis Gary Powers Nuclear Plant. Three weeks later, he comes back to life as a zombie, “a toxic student with a shocking tale, shaking up the Geiger Scale,” and begs Toffee to take him back. His endless pursuit of her turns him into a regional superstar, as students and citizens rally behind him, helping him win back Toffee and re-enroll in school. The musical also features characters such as Delilah Strict — who, true to her name, is a die-hard sponsor of “Rules, Regulations and Respect” — and Eddie Flagrante, a journalist for Exposé Magazine who assists Jonny in his quest, and uncovers unexpected truths about Miss Strict. This musical features book and lyrics by John Dempsey, music by Dana P. Rowe, and runs about an hour and a half.
