NFL Predictions – Week 16

NFL Predictions - Week 16

Atlanta Falcons at Detroit Lions- The Atlanta Falcons and the Detroit Lions are headed in opposite directions. One team is headed to the playoffs with a possible first round bye and the other team is looking to reflect on what they did wrong this season. Matt Ryan and the Falcons look to build on their win over the Giants last week. The Lions, meanwhile are sitting lowly at 4-10, but there is  do have a bright side in this game. Wide receiver Calvin Johnson has a chance at breaking Jerry Rice’s single-season record for the most receiving yards in a season. Other than that, the Lions have no reason to play. Falcons take this game easily.

Falcons: 30

Lions:13

Minnesota Vikings at Houston Texans:

After a rebound win against the Colts, the Texans will continue to take advantage of its momentum heading into this game. Viking’s running back Adrian Peterson has a chance to make history by passing Eric Dickerson for the most rushing yards in a single season. Look for the Vikings to pound the ball inside. Texan’s running back Arian Foster will continue to impress and Andre Johnson will get a considerable number of targets.

Vikings:20

Texans:17

Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles

After a stunning resurgence in the second half of the season, the Washington Redskins now look to beat the Eagles in a must-win game to inch closer to punching a ticket to the playoffs. With RGIII playing, and Alfred Morris running strong, the Redskin’s offense will surely give the Eagle’s defense some trouble. Meanwhile, the Eagles have had a terrible and shameful season. After missing the playoffs again, this will likely be the last year of the Andy Reid era. Even though LeSean McCoy is back for the Eagles, he will likely be limited and most of the carries will be deferred to Bryce Brown.  Rookie quarterback Nick Foles has shown some impressive skills, but it won’t be enough to beat the Redskins.

New Orleans Saints at Dallas Cowboys

After a disappointing season, the New Orleans Saints’ chances of making the playoffs are over. But elite quarterback Drew Brees and the Saints could play spoiler against the Dallas Cowboys, who are in a three-way tie for the NFC East. The Cowboys will have to look to pass to Dez Bryant and Mile Austin, and the Cowboys should also give some carries to running back Demarco Murray.

Cowboys take this game in a thriller.

Cowboys:17

Saints:14

New York Giants at Baltimore Ravens:

After an impressive start to the season, the Baltimore Ravens have started to lose it grip in the AFC North.  The Giants, meanwhile, need to beat the Baltimore Ravens to take a lead in the NFC east. With star running back Ahmad Bradshaw out, the Giants will resort to running back David Wilson to carry the load. The key in this game is that Eli Manning needs to play consistently if the Giants want to win. Manning needs to connect with receivers Cruz and Nicks. If the Manning can do this, then the Giants take this game.

Giants:27

Ravens:10

San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks

With an impressive win over the New England Patriots, the 49ers look to get another win against the Seahawks. The Seahawks have put up 50 points in each of their last 2 games. Russell Wilson continues to solidify his campaign for Rookie of the Year. Marshawn Lynch should get many carries and the Seahawks will resort to the run-and-pound attack. The 9ers will continue to ride Colin Kapernick’s impressive wins. But I think the Seahawks will continue to explode for 50 points.
