Football

The Albany Academy football team put another great season under its belt finishing with a regular season record of 4-3. Although playing one of the hardest schedules in years, it started off the season 3-0 with wins against Green Tech, Cohoes, and Hudson. Its first loss came in a game against Ravena, a team that was also 3-0 at the time. In arguably its toughest matchup of the year, the Cadets went out against Landsingburgh and produced their best offensive game of the year, putting up 50 points, led by Eric Woods, David Bryce, Ian Bennett, and Darrien White. However, in the end of one of the most exciting games Class B had to offer all year, the Cadets fell just short, losing to Landsingburgh 50-53. To end their season the Cadets were beaten by the Glens Falls Indians in the first round of the playoffs. Plagued by injury, the team struggled, and fell short in the end. Post-season honors included Class B Offensive Player of the Year awarded to Darrien White, and Times Union first-team all stars Alexei Buchanan, Ian Bennett, and Jordan Newton.

Soccer

The Albany Academy soccer team had another successful season, finishing with a regular season record of 14-1. The team had blowout wins over Glens Falls, Cobleskill, Voorheesville, and Fonda. Their first loss came in mid-October against tough opponent Ichabod Crane. The Cadets had two strong wins against their rival, Schalmont, one of which was a comeback win in overtime. They went into the playoffs with a number-one seed and thus a first-round bye. They ended up losing a close game against Averill Park, 2-1. Jordan Newton led the team with 19 assists and 25 goals followed by John Moutopoulos who ended the season with 10 assists and 20 goals. Next year’s captains will be John Moutopoulos and Liam Maloy.

Cross Country

The Albany Academy Cross Country team had yet another successful season under Coach Poole. Led by captains Greg Finin and Anthony Stefanelli, the team finished with a record of 6-4 in their dual meets. They finished in 7thplace out of 23 teams in the Class C sectionals. Some of the highlights of the season include an impressive 2nd place finish at the Galway Invitational, as well as Coach Poole receiving his 200th win against Voorheesville, a team they had not beaten in a number of years. Also, Griffin Keegan placed 2nd at the Colonial Council Championship with one of the best races of his season.

Golf

The Albany Academy Golf team had yet another successful season led by Coach Bestle and captains Tom Cassidy and Tom Featherstonaugh.  In their first game they played tough opponent Shaker, and lost by just 7 strokes, a sign that they had a great season ahead of them.  Shaker ended up placing 2nd in the Class A sectionals.  The team went through the season, playing fifteen games in eighteen school days, a very vigorous schedule. In the Class A sectionals the team finished in the middle of the pack. Highlights included Tom Cassidy making it to the second round of the state qualifiers, and the team going undefeated in the Colonial Council for their tenth straight year and winning the Council crown, with Sean Puleo earned medalist honors.
