AAG Soccer is 3-0

After a long 2009 season for the Academy Bears, the team is now on a successful 3-0 run.  A 2-1 victory over Lansingburgh, the home team, set the tone for the Bears’ season.  Freshmen Taila Rockmore registered her first goal and Senior Lizzy Robinson scored the game-winning goal.

Four days later, on September 14, the Bears continued their winning streak with a 3-0 shut out against Ichabod Crane High School. Senior Bridget Malicki, Junior Emily Downie, and 8th grader Brianna Hart scored the three goals and should be credited for their hard work on the field. Also, Polly Grey recorded the first shutout of her soccer career.

September 16 brought another successful win against the host team, Cohoes.  Talia Rockmore started the game strong by scoring first for the Academy Bears. Bridget Malicki then scored two consecutive goals, putting the bears up 3-0 at half time.  By the end of the game, Lizzy Robinson had also scored, making the final score 4-2.

The Bears are looking forward to a competitive, fun, and successful season this year. This week they face three teams: Watervliet on Monday September 20, Fonda-Fultonville on Wednesday September 22, and Voorheesville on Friday September 24.
