AA Hockey loss at Berkshire

With a 12 to 2 loss on Wednesday, December 2, the Albany Academy hockey team’s record fell to 0-3. A very good Berkshire team that is a potential contender to win the Prep League out played the Cadets.

Although it has been a rough start, the hockey team appears to have a bright future. This year’s hockey team is very different from last year’s. Joining returning leaders such as Senior Captain Matthew Rakoczy, there are many new players, including goalies Ben Halford and Josh Holmes. Other additions include Conor Riley, Nick Birchak, David Limoges, Greg Warnken, and others.

The hockey team has not only many new players, but also a new coach in Eric Cavosie, a former Cadet who went on to play hockey at RPI. With a new coach and players that have not played together for very long it will take time for success to come, but eventually it will, as many feel that this years team has not only great talent at the top but also much better depth than in recent years. The Cadets will travel to Avon Old Farms, another formidable team, followed by another away game at Trinity Pawling. After that they will face off in the annual Rider Cup, which starts on December 12. So far it has been difficult for the Cadets, but eventually wins are sure to come.
